There’s no roof mounted rockets though & I can’t find switches for the elevating bonnet badge with rotary cable cutter or the one to drop tyre nails from the boot floor when you’re being chased by the baddies. It runs and drives beautifully. I bought it for its looks (especially the wheels), but it's surprisingly quick and responsive, So forget the thirsty, problematic V8s, this 192bhp straight six 728i is eminently capable. Ideal modern classic wedding car. Just 110k with full service history – 16 services, most recently done at 110k by BMW specialist Autotecnic Altrincham (who used to be a BMW main dealer subsidiary) including a brake fluid change & aircon regas. All the instruments work, there are no warning lights on and all equipment seems to work. I’ve refurbished the LED pixel display in the dash clocks so they’re working perfectly, the radio ones need doing (a kit is included in the glovebox next to the Walther PPK*), I’ve not got around to it because the radio still works fine so I can listen to Radio 2. Cosmetically there are a few minor blemishes to the offside (see video) but otherwise it’s in incredibly good condition and far better than anyone would expect for a 24 year old car. It certainly attracts attention and compliments so be prepared for people wanting to stop you and ask about it when you park up (hopefully not in Avis’ front window).
